Who Jesus is— explained simply and biblically
Jesus is the central figure of Christianity and is revealed in the Bible as God in the flesh, sent to save humanity.
Jesus is the Son of God.
Scripture teaches that Jesus is not merely a teacher or prophet, but God’s own Son.
“But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God…” (John 20:31)
Jesus is God made human.
The Bible declares that Jesus existed eternally and took on human nature to dwell among us.
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God… And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us.” (John 1:1,14)
Jesus is the promised Messiah (Christ).
He fulfilled Old Testament prophecies concerning the Savior who would redeem God’s people.
“We have found the Messias, which is, being interpreted, the Christ.” (John 1:41)
Jesus lived a sinless life.
Unlike all others, Jesus lived without sin, making Him the perfect sacrifice.
“Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth.” (1 Peter 2:22)
Jesus died for our sins and rose again.
His death paid the penalty for sin, and His resurrection conquered death.
“Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures… and that he rose again the third day.” (1 Corinthians 15:3–4)
Jesus is the only way to God.
Salvation is found in Him alone.
“I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” (John 14:6)
Jesus is Lord and King.
He reigns now and will return again.
“That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow… and every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.” (Philippians 2:10–11)
In short, Jesus is God’s Son, the Savior of the world, fully God and fully man, crucified, risen, and reigning—offering forgiveness and eternal life to all who believe.
